Pull from breakdown and categories
The budget is built from your breakdown: props, wardrobe, characters, locations, and other elements become line items in budget categories. Use Pull from breakdown to create or refresh lines from the breakdown, and Manage categories to add or organize budget categories (e.g. Above the Line, Cast, PROPS, Wardrobe).Where to find the budget
Production → Budget. The first time you open the budget (or when it is empty), the app may run Pull from breakdown automatically so lines are created from your tagged elements and cast.Pull from breakdown
Pull from breakdown creates one budget line per breakdown element that does not already have a line:- Items (props, wardrobe, set dressing, vehicles, stunts, SFX, VFX, etc.) are mapped to budget categories by type (e.g. props → 38.00, wardrobe → 09.00). If an item has a Cost card on its board, estimated/actual/paid from that card are used for the new line.
- Characters become cast lines in the Cast category (10.00). Name and rate come from the character’s Cast Member card when present; work days can come from the schedule (DOOD days) if you use Use DOOD days on the line. See Day Out of Days (DOOD) for how those days are calculated and how hold-days factor into cast cost.
- Locations become lines in the Locations category (11.00 or 93.00 depending on template).
- Equipment (cameras and lenses from Production → Equipment) become lines in the Camera Equipment category (45.00) when that category is on your budget; otherwise they fall under Other / Miscellaneous (16.00). Camera and lens rentals are not placed under PROPS (38.00), which is for property-department items. Estimated amount and unit (per day vs flat) come from each equipment’s optional rental cost and “Cost is per day” setting.
Manage categories
Use Manage categories to see a full list of standard categories (from the budget template) and add any of them to your budget. Categories have an account code and name (e.g. 10.00 Cast, 38.00 PROPS, 09.00 Wardrobe). Once a category is added, you can add manual lines to it (lines not linked to a breakdown element) via Add line in that category.Adding manual lines
If you need a budget line that is not tied to a breakdown element (e.g. a general “Misc” or “Contingency” line):- Ensure the right category exists (add it via Manage categories if needed).
- In that category’s section, click Add line.
- Enter name, unit, quantity, rate, estimated amount, and any other fields. Save.
