Adding reference images or storyboards to shots

You can attach a reference image (or storyboard frame) to each shot. The image appears in the shot list View (table and card layout) and in exports so the crew can see the intended framing or reference on the shoot day.

Where to add or change the image

In the View ( VisualShot ListView), each shot has an Image column (table) or image area (card). If no image is attached, you see a placeholder. Hover the shot’s image cell or card and click the image icon. This opens the image picker where you can:
  • Choose an image already in your project media library (images uploaded anywhere in the project appear here)
  • Upload a new image directly from the picker
You can change or remove it later by hovering and clicking the image area again, or clearing it in the shot edit form. The Image column can be shown or hidden via Adjust Columns in the View action bar. If the column is hidden, you can still add or edit the image from the shot’s Edit form (context menu → Edit).

Using images as reference or storyboards

Use the shot image for:
  • Reference frames: A still from a lookbook, location photo, or mood board so the DP and director see the intended look.
  • Storyboard frames: A drawn or generated storyboard panel for that shot so the crew knows the composition and action.
  • Previs or previz: A frame from previsualization if you have it.
One image per shot is stored. For multiple panels per shot, use a single composite image or the shot description and notes for extra detail. When you export a Shot List PDF or use the view-only share link, shots with attached images show those images in the list or card layout. That way anyone with the PDF or link can see the reference on set without opening the app. More: Shot list, Managing shot lists, View, export, and share, Media Gallery.
