View, export, and share

The View is where you browse and edit shots in a table or card layout, add banners and setups, export PDFs (shot list, lined script, as-shot), and create a view-only share link so others can see the shot list without signing in.

Where to open the View

VisualShot ListView (or use the View tab/link from the shot list area). You see either a list (table) or a card grid (1–5 columns). Use the view type selector to switch.

Scene picker and filtering

At the top, the scene picker shows the current scene (e.g. scene number + slugline) or All Shots. Click it to open a modal and switch to another scene or to “All Shots”. You can also filter by group (e.g. a schedule day or a custom list) using the group dropdown. Search filters shots by text in the table or grid.

Editing shots in the View

  • Inline editing: In list view, click Shot size, Shot type, Movement, or Est. to change them from dropdowns without opening the full edit form.
  • Status: Use the checkbox (or status control) to mark a shot as Shot / Not Shot. Cut shots appear with a “Cut” label and optional note; use Show cut shots to include them (they are hidden from the list and from PDFs by default).
  • Context menu (three dots): On each shot you can Edit, Duplicate, Add Shot Under, Add Setup Under, Add Banner Under, Cut Shot (or Restore if already cut), or Remove.

Marking shots as shot

As you film, mark each shot Shot (checkbox or status in the View) when it is in the can. That keeps the shot list in sync with what you have actually shot: Not Shot = not filmed yet, Shot = filmed. It helps with daily progress, as-shot reports, and avoiding duplicate work or missed coverage. You can mark shots from the list or card view; the status is saved immediately. Cut shots are separate: they are shots you dropped (see Cut shots for why and how to cut a shot).

Banners and setups

  • Add Banner: Inserts a label row (e.g. “Day 2”, “Location: Park”). Use AddAdd Banner or the context menu on a shot → Add Banner Under.
  • Add Setup: Groups shots under a setup name with optional times and notes. Use AddAdd Setup or Add Setup Under from the context menu.
You can reorder shots, banners, and setups by dragging. Day break banners (from the schedule) appear automatically when your schedule has day breaks; they cannot be deleted.

Export

When a scene is selected, use Export to generate:
  • Shot List PDF: Shot list layout for that scene (or all shots). When exporting list view, the PDF uses the same columns you chose in Adjust Columns, so hidden columns are excluded from the export.
  • Lined Script: Script with shot coverage marked.
  • As Shot: As-shot report for what was filmed.
Export options may vary by project. Cut shots are excluded from PDFs unless you include them via settings.

Adjust Columns and Settings

  • Adjust Columns: Click the columns icon (hamburger or “Adjust Columns”) in the action bar to choose which columns appear in list view (e.g. Status, Image, Scene, Shot, Description, Camera, Lens, Shot Size, Movement, Est.). Save to keep your preferences. These preferences also control which columns appear when you export the Shot List PDF.
  • Settings: Open MoreSettings to set Shot numbering (Letters, Numbers, or Custom/manual) and excluded letters, and to open Manage Coverage (coverage subjects for character/coverage tracking).
Use MoreShare to create a view-only link for the shot list. Anyone with the link can view the shot list (list or cards, scene picker, group filter) without signing in. Use Create view-only link, then Copy the URL. Revoke invalidates the link. Useful for sharing with department heads or clients. More: Shot list, Builder and coverage, Shot list groups and settings.
